Syllabus
1st Day Field Trip/ Rutgers Marine Field Station.
Collection of specimens to be used in class. Demonstration of different types of benthic sampling gear ( i.e. van Veen grab sampler, beam trawl, and plankton trawl)
2nd Day Lecture: Introduction to Invertebrate Systematics
Lab: Sort live material collected on Field Trip
Lab: Annelid Polychaetes
Identify and draw 4 different polychaete species using appropriate Identification Keys
3rd Day Lab: Complete Polychaete Identifications
Lab: Bivalves and Gastropods
Identify and draw 3 different species of each Class using the appropriate Identification Keys
4th Day Lecture: TBA
Lab: Arthropods/ Crustacea and Decapoda
Identify and draw at least 3 different species of each Class using the appropriate Identification Keys
5th Day Lab: Echinoderms
Identify and draw 2 different species of each Class using the appropriate Identification keys
