Today's Weather: Clear skies with a high temperature of 77°F. Predominate winds from the souteast at 6 kts.


Today's Boat Assignments:

Arabella - Redeploy Node B after servicing.

Caleta - ADCP/CTD Survey - Central A-line to monitor potential upwelling.

Northstar 4 - Biological Pump Sampling

Zodiac - REMUS Operations

Northstar 6 - Open Water Test or NUWC turbulence REMUS.


Today's highlights:

Upwelling Predicted - Upwelling Observed: Ocean forecast predicted upwelled cold water would surface, starting in northern New Jersey and reaching Tuckerton today. Upwelling observed in yesterday's satellite imagery offshore northern New Jersey. Upwelling process at Tuckerton monitored by Caleta today. Thermocline surfaced during the last transect inside of LEO-15. This was the same area monitored by the Webb Multi-Trip yesterday. Average upward motion about 8 meters/day.

Successful openwater test of Turbulence REMUS. 4 km line at 11 m depth, just below the thermocline.

Numerous successful docking runs with WHOI REMUS

Minibat undulating CTD/Fluorometer operational for tomorrow's Caleta survey.
