ATMOSPHERE --- This is the day we have all been waiting for. Clear skies, and I mean clear. Temps in the low 70s, and all the boats out for fun. Winds were easterly early and then switched to southeast in the afternoon. and strong ones at that. Temps were in the upper 70s. Is upwelling far away?

OCEAN -- Great day for ocean data. Planes, satellites and ships saw a strong frontal feature throughout the area. The thermocline is now at least 16 kilometers off shore, but with the expected southwesterlies for the next few days, we expect to see the cold water move in shore.
