Today's Atmospheric/Ocean Weather

Morning Evening

ATMOSPHERE ---No boats today. Easterly winds just caused too much of a swell, and overcast skies kept all remote sensing data, well, nonexistent.

Plots of today's weather data from the Field Station are shown below. Times are in GMT.

OCEAN -- Downwelling/mixing and big seas. Not a great day to be out on the ocean. CODAR confirms the southerly movement of the surface layer and downwelling.
Everyone is bumming about the non-data day. We've been cranking away for 3 weeks now, and were hoping to get great aircraft ship and satellite data this week, when EVERYONE is here. Unfortunately Mother Nature is being a pain in the butt. Maybe tomorrow. Sometimes it's darkest just before the dawn.....
